Do you have any history on this ring?

i was given this ring by one of my friends he told me he trusted me with it. He is a descendant of Queen Victoria. The ring is not a wedding ring, it has a simple gold band with a crystal in the middle it looks like its been restored a few times. The legend is that the Queen when close to her death had the ring stolen from her and it was smuggled to America, the smuggler took out what was a real diamond, and replaced it with a fake. This ring is worth over $10,000 and is apparantly searched for world wide. Anyone have any detail or internet links you could help me with? thanks ton!
