2.5 carat diamond earrings

Should i buy my girlfriend a diamond necklace, or diamond earrings?

me and my girlfriend have been together for 3 years, and for christmas this year i want to get her either a diamond necklace, or diamond earrings. The Necklace is a 3 stone, 1/4th carat past, present, and future necklace. The earrings are solitaire diamonds with a 2/5th carat total weight. Which would you prefer? the earrings are noticably bigger, and they are the same price as the necklace.

If the earrings are larger than the necklace but the same price, it sounds like the quality is not as good as the necklace. In my opinion, diamond earrings that are 2/5 carat total weight (1/5 carat each earring) sounds way too small to me. If you cannot afford at least 1/3 carat weight for each earring, I would go for earrings in semi precious stone surrounded by diamonds. As for the 3-stone necklace, they’re okay but have been around for a while (yawn…) and I think it would be better if you got the largest single stone diamond you could afford instead of 3 little tiny stones on a necklace. Check out overstock.com and search the earrings for aquamarine drop earrings with diamond accents or whatever other color stone you like. Citrine is a deep golden yellow colored semi precious stone that looks great when surrounded by diamonds. Good luck with whatever you choose, but only use overstock.com for a reference–I never recommend buying jewelry over the internet.
